About this session

More technical than most sessions, on purpose. Santos Hernandez of Ship AI covers the week's AI news, then teaches skills from the ground up: what a markdown file is, what a good thread contains, how to create a skill and iterate it, and how loops put a skill on a schedule. It ends with Grok Bot answering live.

This AI Exchange runs more technical than most, on purpose. Santos Hernandez, founder of Ship AI and a founding product hire at ZBD, brings his Day Zero series to the Center For AI Excellence: a session built for the moment most people meet AI as a chat box and get told they need a framework and a cloud deploy before an agent can help. They don't.

After three news stories worth arguing about, from Gemini Enterprise for finance to the GPT-5.6 price cuts and Anthropic's run rate, Santos gets to the heart of it: a skill is the thing you keep re-explaining, written once as a markdown file the agent reads by itself. He walks the whole chain in plain terms: what markdown actually is, what a good thread contains, how a skill gets created from work you already did, and the loop that makes it better every run.

Then the sneak peek. Grok Bot is the same pieces the room just learned, running as a fleet of always-on cloud agents with their own virtual machines: a chief of staff wired to Gmail and Granola, a customer support agent reading a production database, fraud and revenue reports on a schedule, and an agent that once deleted eighty thousand emails on request. The room's questions run from CAPTCHAs and data-center IPs to context growth and webhooks.

Dan Kite closes with the frame that holds the session together: we are in a transition from asking AI questions to giving it jobs. The Matrix scene where kung fu gets downloaded into a brain is what a skill is, and the practical instruction is the same at every level: when you get a job right, save it as a skill, because the next time it takes two minutes.
