Measure Twice, Automate the Rest
Contractor and AI Exchange member Thomas McDonough has no technical background. He shows how he put AI to work across Torc Construction: proposals, contracts, project management, billing, payments, marketing, and an app he built himself for clients and subcontractors.
This session runs at both locations: Workuity Chandler and Workuity Biltmore. You are viewing the Wednesday, November 18, 2026 session at Workuity Chandler. See the Workuity Biltmore session.
Measure Twice, Automate the Rest
With Thomas P. McDonough
How a contractor rebuilt his whole business with AI, no tech background required.
Thomas McDonough learned to fix motorcycles before he ever used a computer for work. He comes from a family of tradesmen and started in construction at 24. In 2015 he founded Torc Construction, a licensed and bonded residential construction firm specializing in luxury remodels. Then he started teaching himself AI in February of 2026.
Today AI shows up across his whole business: proposals, contracts, project management, billing, payments and marketing. He even built his own app, where clients and subcontractors handle approvals, documents, schedules and communication in one place. He did it without an engineering degree or an IT department. It took curiosity, grit and a lot of self-study.
Thomas has been part of the Workuity AI Exchange almost since it began. In this session he opens his whole toolbox: real examples from real jobs, how he learned, and what worked and what didn't, all in plain language.
If you run a service business, manage projects or work in the trades, this is your proof that AI isn't reserved for the few anymore. You don't need to be a software engineer. You need a problem worth solving and the willingness to start.
Free to attend, RSVP required.
