About this session

Liam Floyd sells for a living and had never written code. An agency quoted him a thousand dollars a month to build the CRM his company needed. He built it himself instead, in Claude Code, in about five hours and fewer than fifty prompts. He opens it live here, and his co-founder Jon Schack shows the automation layer he added on top.

Liam Floyd sells for a living. He had never written code before this year. An agency quoted him a thousand dollars a month to build the CRM his company needed, and that quote is what sent him to Claude Code instead.

About five hours and fewer than fifty prompts later, he had the system Automation Interns runs on: leads arriving, the pipeline moving, follow-ups drafting themselves, the whole thing wired to his Gmail, his calendar, his Sheets, and his Drive. In this session he opens it live and walks the room through how it actually works, at the ninety percent state he was honest enough to show it in.

The part worth your Monday morning is where he started. Not with software. He wrote down how a lead actually becomes a client in his business: cold email, reply, fifteen-minute intro, scope call, proposal, signature. That sentence was the spec. Everything after it was prompting. You have a process like that in your head right now, and that is the whole prerequisite.

Then Jon Schack, his co-founder and the engineer of the two, shows the layer that takes it from ninety percent to a hundred: a Gemini automation flow that transcribes a qualifying call and lands it where the CRM can use it, while the decision-making stays with Claude and with the operator.

Leading the session is Liam Floyd, Co-Founder of Automation Interns, an Arizona company that connects small and medium-sized businesses with ASU engineers to build practical AI systems and automations. He came up through commercial real estate brokerage, construction, and operations, so he knows the messy spreadsheets and the manual follow-up firsthand. He is joined by his co-founder Jon Schack.

Co-Founder, Automation Interns

Liam Floyd is the Co-Founder of Automation Interns, an Arizona company that connects small and medium-sized businesses with talented ASU engineers to build practical AI systems and automations. Liam leads sales and business development, finding the repetitive workflows inside a business and turning them into buildable automation projects. Before Automation Interns, he worked in commercial real estate brokerage, construction, and operations, so he knows firsthand the messy spreadsheets, manual follow-up, and disconnected systems that slow businesses down. His focus now is helping owners use AI practically: not as a buzzword, but as a tool to save time, improve follow-up, and make internal processes easier to run.
